Telesalud en la adherencia terapéutica y la continuidad del cuidado en pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2

Resumen

La diabetes mellitus tipo 2 representa uno de los principales desafíos para los sistemas de salud a nivel mundial, debido a su creciente prevalencia y a las dificultades que muchos pacientes presentan para mantener una adecuada adherencia terapéutica y un seguimiento clínico continuo. La falta de control del tratamiento puede favorecer la aparición de complicaciones metabólicas y cardiovasculares, lo que afecta la calidad de vida de los pacientes y aumenta la carga sobre los servicios sanitarios. En este contexto, la telesalud ha emergido como una estrategia tecnológica orientada a mejorar el acceso a los servicios de salud, fortalecer el seguimiento clínico y promover el autocuidado en personas con enfermedades crónicas. El objetivo de esta investigación fue analizar la evidencia científica disponible sobre el papel de la telesalud en la adherencia terapéutica y la continuidad del cuidado en pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2. El estudio se desarrolló mediante una revisión de la literatura científica publicada entre 2020 y 2026, recuperada de bases de datos académicas reconocidas, como Scopus, PubMed, SciELO y Google Scholar. Para la selección de los estudios se consideraron investigaciones relacionadas con la telesalud, la adherencia terapéutica y el manejo clínico de la diabetes mellitus tipo 2. Los resultados evidencian que herramientas como teleconsultas, sistemas de telemonitorización, aplicaciones móviles de salud, plataformas digitales de comunicación y sistemas de recordatorios automatizados contribuyen a mejorar la adherencia al tratamiento, fortalecer el autocuidado y optimizar el control glucémico. Asimismo, estas tecnologías facilitan el seguimiento clínico continuo y la comunicación entre pacientes y profesionales de la salud, lo que favorece la continuidad del cuidado en el manejo de esta enfermedad crónica. Se concluye que la telesalud constituye una estrategia relevante para mejorar la gestión del tratamiento, el seguimiento clínico y la continuidad del cuidado en pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2.
